How to Get to Playa de Cofete
Playa de Cofete is located on the southwestern tip of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands within the Jandia Natural Park. Playa de Cofete is situated on the peninsula of the same name in Cofete, a small region filled with lively people.
The Cofete peninsula measures at least two hundred square kilometers and is separated from the rest of Fuerteventura by an area called La Pared Isthmus.
The island is divided into the north and south by La Pared Isthmus; the north is called Maxorata, and the south is called the Jandia.
However, it’s a gem you should seek, as it will blow your mind. To access the rough terrain, forest trails, and non-tarmacked and dusty roads, you will need specialized vehicles for that kind of road.
The beach stretches quite a distance from the Siete Viudas islet in the north to as far as the Roque del Morro in the north.
Going to Playa de Cofete is not just about the beach but also the journey to the beach. Visiting this place should be viewed as an excursion and should be enjoyed as such.
The journey is challenging, but it takes little time, too. It will take around 50 minutes to complete the 25-kilometer journey, leaving just in front of the beach. Once you are around 8.5 kilometers outside of Morro Jable, you will come across the turn-off for Cofete.
To get to Cofete Beach on the southwestern coast of Fuerteventura, you will need to get to Jandia, specifically Pajara (a municipality in Fuerteventura). However, multiple roads lead to Cofete; if you take a guagua (bus), we have the road through Morro Jable on line 111.
This road is filled with beautiful scenic landscapes as you travel through it. Another way to get to Playa de Cofete is through the PR-FV55 Gran Valle trail (Cofete) of 6.80 km. These routes are alternatives to the significant route that leads to Cofete. The routes are all safe, and you will have no issue getting to Cofete in no time.

The trachytes are valuable material, as they closely resemble marbles. The grayish trachytes are said to originate from erosion due to the same strong wave that hits the beach’s shores.
Cofete Cemetery
Spooky, right? The Cofete Cemetery is one of the most unique cemeteries in the world when we talk about cemeteries.
It was built in the early 19th century to avoid the stress that comes with the transportation of deceased individuals from the dromedary to the church in Pajara.
Aldea de Cofete
Another site to go and see is Aldea de Cofete, which lies a kilometer from Cofete Beach in Fuerteventura. In this region, you see a group of neatly built 19th-century houses.
They were said to have been built by the very first inhabitants of the land, who dedicated their lives to fishing in the ocean that came with Playa de Cofete.
One fun fact about Aldea de Cofete is that you get to enjoy delicious local cuisine.
Another feature worth sightseeing is the statue of Gustav Winter and a black dog. The statue is made purely of bronze and is located east of Playa de Cofete. The twist is that this status welcomes you to another attraction site in Cofete—the Villa Winter.
